Thanks to the support of Edko Films Ltd., the movie producer of “A Guilty Conscience”, SideBySide hosted a movie-sharing session plus a brand launch event at the filming location - The Former North Kowloon Magistracy on 4th March. We were honoured to invite the Director, Mr Jack Ng, Actor Mr Adam Pak, Mr Mak Chi Wan, and legal consultant Ms Katy Chung, Barrister-at-law, to discuss judicial topics with our representatives at thepost-screening sharing session. A tour for participants to revisit the court stories was conducted and the participants looked forward to the first judicial education centre in Hong Kong.

Ms. Anthea LEE Shuk-wai, Chief Executive of SideBySide was interviewed by Metro Info《The good old things》, introducing "NK Future" development project which will transform former North Kowloon Magistracy to an universal judicial education centre to continue the judicial spirit and traditions of the North Kowloon Magistracy. The characteristics of the revitalisation scheme, financial plan, partners, expected results, etc. were shared in the interview, so that the public can learn more about the project.

Ms. May LEE Koon-mei, Senior Manager (Community Education & Volunteer Service) of SideBySide, was interviewed by RTHK TV 32 with one of the STAR Theatre actors, Sai Keung, introducing the concept of STAR Theatre established by SideBySide and promoting “So Uk” Musical Theatre. Also, Sai Keung shared his reborn process after joining STAR Theatre, transforming into an actor in life drama, and shining on stage.

Ms. Priscilla KO Wai-kam, Senior Manager (Mental Health Service II) of SideBySide, was interviewed by RTHK with our service user, Siu Fong, introducing Integrated Community Centres for Mental Wellness (ICCMW) which provide one-stop, district-based and accessible community mental health support service from early prevention to risk management in the serving districts. Moreover, Siu Fong shared her mental recovery experience in Vitality Place, such as regaining interests and developing talents by sewing clothes.

Dr. Eric CHEUNG Fuk-chi, Vice Chairperson of SRACP Executive Committee and Ms. Karen CHONG Ka-lai from Vitality Place, were interviewed by HOY TV ”Wish” with Mace who is a Person of Recovery. When Mace was diagnosed with Bipolar Affective Disorder, she was hitting the rock bottom in life. Later, she was referred to Vitality Place and tried to participate in art therapy activities. Gradually, her tension was relieved, and she became a Human Library sharer, encouraging people with similar situation by sharing own experience.

SRACP revitalizes the former magistracy to become the first universal judicial education centre in Hong Kong

The Former North Kowloon Magistracy (a Grade 2 historic building) will be converted into the "NK Future" by The Society of Rehabilitation and Crime Prevention, Hong Kong. The project will set up a universal judicial education centre to continue the judicial spirit and traditions of the Magistracy. It will also use the building as a starting point to connect the communities with heritage assets of the district, linking up traditional and new cultural resources so as to promote local culture and creative arts. A wide range of activities will be organised for the general public under four main themes, namely judicial education, Hong Kong culture, partnership and co-sharing, and leisure life.

Dr. Eric CHEUNG Fuk-chi, Vice Chairperson of SRACP Executive Committee and Mr. Nick CHEUNG Fung, Social Worker cum Programme Coordinator from Placidity Place, were interviewed by HOY TV《Wish》with Qin who is a Person of Recovery. As Qin was diagnosed with cancer decades ago, she lost the ability to take care of herself and lost hope in life, suffering from depression finally. Later, she received mental health support service in Placidity Place and became a cat volunteer, which helped her to regain confidence and relieve depression.
