HKJC Community Project Grant - Project OASIS

 The Hong Kong Jockey Club Community Project Grant - Project OASIS , has been funded by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust since 2005, is an integrated and collaborative project by SideBySide, which the project collaborates with the Substance Abuse Assessment Unit (SAAU) or the Substance Abuse Clinic (SAC) from different hospitals in Hong Kong. The Project is characterized by joint effort between medical professionals and social workers, aiming at providing substance users with medical support from SAAU or SAC and comprehensive community-based rehabilitation services.

Service Objective

Project aims to assist substance abusers, who are motivated in drug rehabilitation, to withdraw from drug abuse, to develop positive relationships with their family members and others, to reintegrate into the community through cultivating their strengths and exploring different opportunities.

Service Users

  • Substance abusers of any gender or age
  • **Applicants who are under 18 years old, a parent/guardian's written consent is required.
    All types of substance abusers (multiple drug abusers / with diagnosed psychiatric history, would need to be assessed and referred by medical professionals)

Scope of Service

Counselling services, peer counselling, therapeutic group, vocational training, financial management, volunteer training, recreational activities and residential services, referral and consultation services.

 

Counselling Service
Project Oasis provides professional drug rehabilitation counselling and advice on drug withdrawal treatment plan for substance abusers, harm reduction and relapse prevention are highlighted. Depending on the abusers’condition, social workers would provide suitable treatment plans or make referrals to other related drug rehabilitation services if necessary.

 

Hostel and Follow-up Services
Project Oasis offers all-around aftercare services for our service users. Individual counselling sessions will be provided and harm reduction and relapse prevention are highlighted. We will also provide guidance on users’ career development and support them in exploring their interest to develop a healthier life style. Service users can apply for our hostel services in hopes of staying away from the unfavorable living condition for their drug rehabilitation (Bradbury Oasis Hostel and Hong Kong Female Hostel, with license under the Drug Dependent Persons Treatment and Rehabilitation Centers (Licensing) Ordinance under the supervision of Social Welfare Department). Referrals from different NGOs partners are welcomed for hostel and drug rehabilitation counselling services.
